40Cr7Al10Mo2 is also known as 1.5% Chromium - Aluminium - Molybdenum Nitriding Steel Round Bars. 40Cr7Al10Mo2 is Nitriding Steel is suited for applications that required excellent resistance to wear and abrasion. Typical applications include connecting rods, small extruders, valve stems, dies. It is widely used in the automotive, textile and general engineering industries. Suitable for applications requiring a resistance to wear, it is also suitable for other applications such as brick press plates, clutch plates, gudgeon, track and shackle pins.
IS 5517 (1993) is a Indian Standard for for Hardening and Tempering Steels.
The material is usally supplied in Annealed Condition with Hardness of 230 HB max.

Application of 40Cr7Al10Mo2 Round Bar :
It is used for the Manufacturing of Valve Spindles, Guide Bushes, Valve Seats Etc, Structural parts with high surface hardness like piston rods, extruders, cylinders, shafts, straightening tools, measuring tools, etc.
Typical applications: connecting rods, small extruders, valve stems, brick press plates, clutch plates, gudgeon, track and shackle pins,injection moulding equipment, hydraulic cylinders, gears and pinions, die inserts, valve and gate parts, cams, piston pins, etc.

Heat Treatment
Normalizing: 930 – 970°C,Cooling in air

Tempering:600 – 650°C,Cooling in air
Nitriding: 500-600°C. Hardness after nitridng is 1000-1100HV.
